Welcome to the background document for our forthcoming webinar entitled \u201cAddressing the digital challenge: extension and advisory services for the empowerment of small and family farmers\u201d which will be held on Thursday, 11th November 2021 from 14:00 \u2013 16:00 Central European Time (CET).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The webinar is organised jointly by the European Union (EU) funded \u2018AgriLink\u2019 project [1] and the Research and Extension Unit (OINR) of the United Nations (UN) Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO). It aims to explore the opportunities, challenges and potential pitfalls associated with the current trends in the digital delivery of extension and advisory services (EAS) to farmers \u2013 with a specific focus upon the empowerment of small and family farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The webinar is accompanied by an online E-Discussion using the Google Docs platform (see below). Together the webinar and E-discussion aim to draw upon the rich diversity of perspectives and expertise of colleagues working with agricultural EAS in both Europe and the Global South who are concerned with maximising the dividends of digital EAS for small and family farmers whilst minimising the risk of deepening digital divides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
